CBB to Conduct Chlorine Burn Effective Immediately

Press Release
October 10, 2018

Effective immediately, CBB Water System in Benton Louisiana has been ordered by the Louisiana Department of Health to conduct a chlorine burn of its system. CBB provides water to the residents of the Cypress Black Bayou area in Bossier Parish. The burn was mandated after the Naegleria Fowleri amoeba was recently found in the Bossier City water system. Bossier City supplies CBB with water for distribution to our members. CBB rountinely boosts the disinfectant levels in the water purchased from Bossier as needed and per State regulations.

This amoeba has not been found in the CBB water system; this is just a precautionary measure. The burn will last for 60 days during which time our customers may experience the strong smell and taste of chlorine.

Our water is safe to use and drink.  According to the CDC " You cannot get infected from drinking water contaminated with Naegleria. You can only be infected when contaminated water goes up into your nose."; therefore you should never use tap water from any water system to perform a sinus rinse.
